The Pros and Cons of a Kitchen Designed With Stainless Steel

March 6, 2019

Most people associate stainless steel with commercial kitchens. From restaurants to hotels, these are the places you think of when you hear the term, “stainless steel.” But that’s not entirely true. In the last couple of years, stainless steel-style kitchens have been making their way into homes as well. They’re not only dominating the latest kitchen trends but have now become the default choice when building modern day houses. Let’s take a look at some of the pros and cons of stainless kitchens, and whether or not they’re an excellent choice for your home:

Pros: Durability

Countertops and kitchen cabinets made from stainless steel are durable and reliable. Imagine placing hot pans and dirty pots on a wooden surface. You’d have to be careful because you risk staining the countertops. As the name suggests, it’s stainless steel so you don’t have to worry about the surface getting ruined. Secondly, you don’t have to worry about mold either. Stainless steel countertops and cabinets can last for years, without requiring a lot of maintenance. If you are careful with them, they can last even longer.

Pros: Sleek Look

Another thing about stainless steel is that it will add a modern touch to your kitchen’s interior. This will give it a sleek and sophisticated look. Modern day kitchens are all about minimalism. They’re all about space and storage. Stainless steel appliances and fixtures don’t take up too much space. This makes them perfect for small kitchens. The last thing you’d want is for your kitchen to look crowded and cluttered.

Pros: Easy to Maintain

As mentioned before, stainless steel is easy to maintain. You don’t have to worry about washing and scrubbing it almost every day because there won’t be any stains. All you have to do is take a cloth, soak it in warm water for 5 minutes, squeeze it and use the damp cloth to wipe off dirt and dust.

Cons: Limited Designs

There’s only one con to stainless steel-style kitchens. Unlike wood, you don’t have unlimited options when it comes to designs. That doesn’t mean you don’t have any choices. It simply means that you won’t get to choose from floral or patterned designs like you can with wood.
